23 December, 2025🇭🇷 ITF World Championship 2025 – Poreč, Croatia
The Farigu Oriolani Team proudly took part in an outstanding ITF World Championship held in Poreč. This edition was one of the largest ITF events ever, welcoming over 1,400 athletes, 57 countries, and 115 umpires, confirming its status as one of the most important championships in the ITF calendar.
The level of competition was exceptionally high across all categories—from pre-juniors to adults and in every discipline. With extremely large divisions, athletes often needed to win five to six matches to reach the top of the podium, making every medal a true achievement.
Strong Performances from the Sardinia Team
The Sardinian athletes delivered impressive performances throughout the championship:
- Nicola Dessì – 1st Degree Patterns
- Filippo Mascia – 2nd Degree Patterns
- Stefano Cadelano – 2nd Degree Patterns
- Mattias Caboni – Team Patterns
- Gabriele Olla – Special Technique & Team Patterns
- Eleonora Cancedda – 3rd Degree Patterns & Sparring -55kg
- Veronica Placido & Silvia Farigu – 4th–6th Degree Patterns & Pre-Arranged Sparring
Christian Oriolani served as one of the Italian National Coaches and closely followed the Sardinian athletes throughout the event.
“We are very proud of them,” said Master Oriolani.
Although Nicola, Mattias, Stefano, Gabriele, and Filippo did not reach the podium, they fought until the very last second with true champion spirit.
Medals & Historic Achievements
- Eleonora Cancedda claimed a bronze medal in 3rd Degree Patterns, in one of the longest and most demanding categories of the championship.
- Silvia Farigu & Veronica Placido reached the top of the podium in Pre-Arranged Sparring, delivering an exceptionally solid performance with one of the most technically demanding choreographies of the event. The final saw Italy face a very strong Japanese team, with Italy securing a clear and deserved victory.
- In Individual Female 4th–6th Degree Patterns, one of the highest-level categories of the championship, Veronica Placido reached the quarterfinals, while Silvia Farigu delivered a spectacular display of flexibility, balance, and determination, winning the final against Figueroa (Finland) and becoming an 11-time World Champion in Patterns and Sparring.
A historic highlight of this championship was that for the first time ever, a women’s pair won the Pre-Arranged Sparring title.

Master Oriolani also expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the team—especially during this demanding journey, shared with Nael, just 2 years old, making the experience even more special.
